Memoria Orbis works in any Discord context — servers, DMs, group chats. The bot installs as a User App, meaning it follows you everywhere, not just servers where an admin has added it.

There are several commands and one context action available to you.

Save Memory Right-Click / Long-Press

The primary way to save a memory. Instead of typing a command, you right-click any message and select Save Memory from the Apps menu. A modal appears so you can optionally add tags and personal notes before saving.

Step 01
Right-click a message (or long-press on mobile)
Step 02
Navigate to Apps in the context menu
Step 03
Select Save Memory
Step 04
Optionally add tags & notes, then confirm

The bot replies with an ephemeral success message (only you can see it) containing the memory ID, a link to your vault, and a reminder of the /recall and /public commands.

Memoria also captures any images or attachments present on the saved message, and up to 5 preceding context messages if the bot has Read Message History permission.

✓ Servers ✓ DMs ✓ Group Chats
/recall Slash Command

Search your personal vault and surface matching memories, right inside Discord. Results are ephemeral — only you can see them. No chat pollution.

/recall query: database migrations
/recall query: kynlo's chicken recipe
/recall query: that funny thing Dave said

The search matches against:

  • The full text of the saved message
  • Any tags you added when saving
  • Any personal notes you added

Up to 3 results are shown. Each result includes a snippet of the content, a [View in Vault] link to open the full memory on the web dashboard, a [Jump to Discord] link back to the original message (if available), and the memory's 6-digit ID for use with /public.

If the memory contains images, the first image is shown as a thumbnail in the embed.

✓ Servers ✓ DMs ✓ Group Chats
/public Slash Command

Share a memory publicly in the current channel. Unlike /recall (which only you can see), /public posts the memory as a visible embed that everyone in the channel can read.

/public id: 482916

The 6-digit ID is shown on every /recall result. Find a memory, note its ID, then use /public to share it with the room.

✓ Servers ✓ DMs ✓ Group Chats
/vault Slash Command

The centralized hub for your vault management. Currently includes powerful sub-commands for personal metrics and discovery.

/vault stats

Returns an ephemeral embed showing your personal vault metrics: total memories, most used tags, top source servers, and total context messages safely archived.

Coming soon to the /vault hub:

  • /vault flashback — Rediscover a random memory from exactly 1 month or 1 year ago.
  • /vault settings — Configure bot preferences directly in Discord.
✓ Servers ✓ DMs ✓ Group Chats
/invite Slash Command

Invite a friend to join Memoria Orbis. This command has two modes:

/invite mode: public

Posts an invite embed publicly in the current channel so anyone can see and click it.

/invite mode: user user: @Someone

Sends a direct message to the user you tagged with the invite. If their DMs are closed, the bot will provide you with a copyable text block so you can send it to them manually.

The invite includes:

  • A brief explanation of Memoria Orbis
  • A link to the website
  • A link to install the bot
  • A link to the support server
✓ Servers ✓ DMs ✓ Group Chats
/set-server Slash Command

Label a server with a custom name or nickname. This is especially useful in private servers where bot access is restricted, ensuring your memories are always accurately attributed.

/set-server name: Project Phoenix

Setting a server nickname works retroactively. As soon as you set a name for a server ID, every memory you have ever saved from that server will update on your dashboard to reflect the new name.

Web Vault Power Tools

While the Discord bot is for capturing and recalling, the Web Dashboard is for organizing and exploring. Log in with Discord at memoriaorbis.com to access these features.

Notebooks & Collections Organization

Move beyond simple tags. Create dedicated "Notebooks" (Folders) to categorize your memories. Simply drag and drop memories from your sidebar into specific notebooks (e.g., "D&D Campaign", "Work Notes").

Perfect for long-term project planning or building a personal wiki from Discord conversations.

Memory Merging (Stitching) Synthesis

Conversations aren't always neat. If an important discussion spanned multiple hours and was saved in chunks, you can select them on your dashboard and click Merge.

Memoria Orbis will stitch them together into one long, contiguous, perfectly formatted document with a unified context history.

One-Click Markdown Export Portability

Your data belongs to you. Every memory page features a Download MD button. Click it to instantly download a perfectly formatted Markdown file ready for Obsidian or Notion.

You can also download your entire vault as a structured .zip archive from the settings page at any time.

Permission Requirements

Memoria Orbis requires minimal permissions. It does not require Administrator.

PermissionRequired?Why
Send MessagesRequiredTo reply with ephemeral confirmations
Use Application CommandsRequiredTo enable /recall and /public slash commands
Read Message HistoryOptionalTo capture the 5 surrounding context messages when saving. Without it, only the target message is saved.
Embed LinksRequiredTo display recall results and public shares as rich embeds

If the bot is denied Read Message History for a locked channel, it gracefully falls back to saving only the single message you selected. Your action is never silently dropped.
